About George Kedgley

Hi, I’m George — an independent Carpenter and Joiner based in Hertfordshire, specialising in interior 2nd fix carpentry and supported by a passion for detail, design, and craftsmanship. I also offer general handyman services for smaller projects and maintenance work.

Background

With an A-Level in Resistant Materials (Grade A) and a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying (2:1), I began my career in the corporate world — working in SaaS sales across London and Copenhagen. But as time went on, I realised my energy and creativity were better suited to something more hands-on and tangible.

During the first Covid-19 lockdown, I left the corporate world to join a local mixed-use property development. Getting back on site — and back on the tools — reignited my passion for woodworking and design.

From there, I helped set up Bear Wood Furniture, a small lockdown-born business making flat-pack, Montessori-inspired furniture in my parents’ garage and shipping it worldwide. The business continues to trade today.

GRK Carpentry Ltd

When the world opened up again, I wanted to work more closely with customers — meeting new people and tackling varied projects each day. That’s when I founded GRK Carpentry Ltd, offering bespoke carpentry and joinery services throughout Hertfordshire and beyond.

While I operate independently, I collaborate with trusted tradespeople for larger or more complex projects.

What I Do

I have a particular passion for storage and organisation projects — creating spaces that not only look great but work exactly the way you need them to. Whether you prefer open, accessible storage or a more systematic, tailored fit-out, I’ll work closely with you to design something that fits your lifestyle.

My CAD (Computer-Aided Design) skills allow me to produce scaled 3D models of your project before work begins. This means you can visualise the result, request changes easily, and receive a fair, transparent quote backed by accurate measurements and cutting lists.

If a project isn’t quite right for me, I’ll always say so — and point you towards someone better suited. I believe in doing things properly, or not at all.
